10mm² — always use for the main DC trunk cable from your combiner box or charge controller into the inverter, especially on any system above 3kW. Undersizing this cable causes voltage drop and heat — both of which reduce your system's energy output and shorten component life. Always use MPPT for systems above 1kW, for lithium batteries (Weco, Pylontech, and similar), for modern 400W+ panels which have higher open-circuit voltages than older panels, and for all Deye and TBB hybrid inverter off-grid configurations. MPPT extracts up to 30% more energy from the same panels by continuously finding the optimal operating point. In Kenya's climate where cloud cover can cause frequent voltage drops, this efficiency advantage is especially valuable across the year.
